The latest computer controlled length monitoring and adjusting equipment is attached to the majority of Harris Springs coiling machines. Using this statistical output full SPC analysis as per ISO9001 can be performed.

The system enables measurement of every spring as it is manufactured. The guages measure the deviation of the spring length from the nominal on each spring. The deviation or 'error signal', is averaged with the signal error from the preceding spring and the accumulated error is saved. When the total accumulated error is greater than the preset value, the spring guage makes a correction to the spring length.

In addition, the system incorporates an automatic sorting mechanism so that out-of-tolerance springs can be rejected at source. As a result, no over or under length springs go on for further processing. This allows for 100% in-tolerance delivery to the customer.

All measurements, results and graphics are visible to the operator from the machine's own graphic display, giving an instant production status at a glance. The information can also be down loaded to a printer or any personal computer for customer requirements or quality records, thus providing a complete history of the coiling operation.
